Earth Work
The “Earth Work” series is a collection of works inspired by a nearby forest, reflecting research on environmental sculpture through the fieldwork. In these works, fallen trees and branches are collected, sliced into rounds, and affixed to wooden panels, visually reconfiguring natural materials. The series also incorporates elements of landscape design, allowing viewers to directly experience the energy and atmosphere of the forest by stepping on the pieces. The work explores the boundary between nature and humanity, aiming to provide viewers with a new sensory experience. This series was created as part of my graduate thesis, undertaken to deepen my understanding of nature and the environment.
The Earth Work series takes nearby forests as its subject and reflects research into environmental art conducted through fieldwork. Fallen trees and branches were gathered, cut into cross-sections, and attached to wooden panels, visually reconstructing natural materials. The works also incorporate elements of landscape design: by stepping on them, viewers can directly sense the energy and atmosphere of the forest. The series explores the boundary between nature and human beings and aims to offer viewers a new sensory experience. It was developed as my graduate research and formed part of an effort to gain a deeper understanding of nature and the environment.
