SHA-KO-SEKI: light reflecting stone
“SHA-KO-SEKI” is a coined word meaning “light reflecting stone” and is a three-dimensional photographic work. I printed the image of the light caught by the camera on washi paper and pasted it on the stone the size of which fitted to my palm. When a person touches this “SHA-KO-SEKI,” she or he might feel holding the light itself. I am hoping my work can add a little bit of extra color to the lives of many people.
「写光石」とは、光を写した石を意味する造語で、場の記憶の光を具現化した作品である。旅先で撮影した光の写真を和紙に印刷し、海岸や河原で採取した自然石に貼り込んで制作している。光と石という異なる素材を融合させることで、光の本質的な価値を浮き彫りにすることを目的としている。写光石は、触れることでその場の光を感じるような体験を提供し、時空を超えて人々と場所を繋ぐ装置として機能する。世界各地の光の象徴的な意味や価値を探求し、地域や人々との協働を通じて作品の世界観を深めていくことを目指している。
