SHA-KO-SEKI is a series of works that transforms photography into sculpture by printing photographs of light and landscape onto washi paper and applying them to natural stones. By layering light onto the material presence of stone, the works translate bodily sensations and the atmosphere experienced in a particular place into something tangible. Each SHA-KO-SEKI acts as a small specimen that preserves a memory of light from a specific place and moment. Since 2017, the series has developed through encounters with various locations, including Munakata Taisha, Futaba in Fukushima, and artist residencies abroad.
