Collaboration with Karl Holtby, UK

I collaborated with UK photographer Karl Holtby to create "SHA-KO-SEKI: light reflecting stone". He is a photographer with deep insights into Zen, Shinto, and Eastern views of nature, and his work has been used in branding work for SIGMA, the Japanese camera and lens manufacturer. As one of his fans, I approached him on social networking sites, which led to this collaboration. The work was completed smoothly through online communication, and miraculously, we were able to meet in Tokyo and hand over the work. "I think it would be interesting to have an exhibition in the UK and Japan of prints of Karl's landscapes and my photolithographs made with the light from the landscapes. We could do something more substantial, involving more people." We hope you will support our future creative activities across the sea.

・Karl Holtby's blog is here.

Karl Holtby

Photographer. Lives in England. He has been involved in photography since childhood, developing black-and-white photographs in the darkroom with his father. Currently, he has a strong interest in the natural world. With a degree in environmental conservation, he believes that the details of nature are what attracts interest and are just as important as the landscape as a whole. In addition, his work should be emotionally evocative and incorporate the atmosphere of the space.
