海外での滞在制作の経験を振り返ります。

近年の東南アジアでの滞在制作は、火山や湖、熱帯雨林の風景、人々の暮らしや宗教観との出会いを通じて、人間がいかに環境によって形づくられる存在であるかを強く意識させられた。そこで生まれた表現は写真やコラージュ、鉄による造形など多様な姿をとって現れた。それは綿密な計画による制作ではなく、偶然に生じる歪みや必然的な制約を受け入れながら光や空気、音の記憶を形にしようとする試みであった。「偶然」とは単なる予期せぬ出来事ではなく、条件に左右される存在の不確かさをも含んでいる。必然と偶然のあいだに立ち現れる風景を探りながら、自身の経験がどのように作品として生成されていくのかを提示したい。

塩井 一孝｜しおい かずたか

1987年宮崎県生まれ、福岡県宗像市在住。福岡教育大学大学院修了。人と自然の関係性をテーマに作品を展開している。2022年に作品《写光石の標本 #1》が世界遺産・宗像大社に奉納された。主な展覧会に個展「Light of Langsuir」マレーシア国立美術館ランカウイ、主催：国際交流基金クアラルンプール日本文化センター、マレーシア（2024年）、グループ展「Re-aksi」Soemardja Gallery・バンドン工科大学、インドネシア（2025年）等がある。

Artist Talk “Memories of Light and Wind in Indonesia”

The artist will reflect on experiences from overseas residencies.

Concept

In recent years, my residency experiences in Southeast Asia—through encounters with volcanic landscapes, lakes, tropical rainforests, as well as the lives and religious views of local people—have deepened my awareness of how profoundly humans are shaped by their environment. The resulting expressions took various forms: photography, collage, and iron sculptures. Rather than being born from meticulous planning, these works attempt to capture memories of light, air, and sound by embracing distortions born of chance and the inevitable constraints of the process.

Here, “contingency” does not simply mean the unexpected; it also points to the inherent uncertainty of existence, shaped by conditions beyond one’s control. By exploring landscapes that emerge in the interstice between necessity and contingency, I seek to reveal how my lived experiences are transformed into artworks.

Artist Profile

Kazutaka Shioi

Born in 1987, Miyazaki. Lives and works in Munakata city, Fukuoka, Japan. M.Ed., Fukuoka University of Education. His practice explores the relationship between humans and nature. In 2022, his work Specimen of Sha-ko-seki #1 was dedicated to Munakata Taisha, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Selected exhibitions include the solo exhibition Light of Langsuir at the National Art Gallery of Malaysia Langkawi, organized by The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia, 2024), and the group exhibition Re-aksi at Soemardja Gallery, Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia, 2025).
